Our caring dental team will welcome you to our office and review your information. We will ask you to fill out some paperwork, so we can learn more about your oral and general health history. In addition, we will take the time to answer your questions or concerns.
Your Dental Appointment
To begin your appointment, our dental hygienist will thoroughly clean your teeth using special instruments. Plaque and tartar accumulations will be removed from below the gum line to reduce your risk for periodontal disease, cavities, and bad breath. Your teeth will be polished a cleaned. In some cases, we may suggest additional preventive treatments, like a fluoride varnish.
We will take x-rays for Dr. Sandberg to review. This provides more information about your oral health to detect issues that may be brewing below the surface. In addition, it allows us to compare your future x-rays with those on file to monitor any changes to your oral health.
He will then perform a comprehensive examination. He will look at the teeth to check for any areas of concern, like tooth decay. The health of your gums is also checked using probing to look at the depth of the pockets in the tissue. This will allow him to evaluate your risk for gum disease. He will also check your temporomandibular joint, neck, and look for any other areas of concern, like possible oral cancer.
After your examination, he will take the time to discuss his findings with you. During this time, he will answer your questions and concerns while making certain recommendations to help improve your oral health, like changes to your oral hygiene habits or preventive and restorative treatments
